Foundry applications generate a large number oftoxic fumes and heavy metal particles that can become a health hazard when it enters the air and is inhaled by the workers. In particular, people working in foundries are exposed to fine dust which contains silica, ferrous particulates, metal dust and fumes. If these small particles are not properly controlled, employees are at risk to develop silicosis or even lung cancer.
Fine metal dust is also highly combustible and the accumulation in the workplace can lead to property damage, explosion and injuries.
